RULES & REGULATIONS
SOLO WITH MUSIC:
1. Total time limit - 5 min. (Warning flag at 4 min. 50 sec).
Points will be reduced for each 15 seconds
based on a 10 point system.
2. Can use either live instrumental music, or an accompaniment
tape. (Live musicians should be
member of the PYCD member churches)
3. No “lip-synching”. Solo must be a live performance. May be in
any language we understand.
4. Avoid selecting accompaniment tapes that contain lyrics or
excessive vocal assistance.
5. Accompaniment tapes should be pre-recorded on a CD and must be
turned in to the youth
coordinator a week prior. No CDs will be accepted on the day of
the competition
6. If using live music on stage, make prior arrangements with the
sound engineer.
7. The "Judging Criteria" will be the guide to determine the
points scored.
8. The maximum number of live musicians shall not exceed 6. All
musicians must be members of
PYCD member churches
SOLO WITHOUT MUSIC:

2. Music selection must be appropriate and may be sung in any
language we understand.
3. The "Judging Criteria" will be the guide to determine the
points scored.
INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC:
1. Total time limit - 3 min. (Warning flag after 2 min. 50 sec.)
Points will be reduced for each 15
seconds based on a 10 point system.
2. The instrumental categories will be Keyboard, Wind. Strings and
Percussion.
3. All instrumental categories are judged
separately based on participation. There must be at
least
three competitors in each category - otherwise it will be combined
as one.
5. Absolutely no pre-recorded or pre-programmed music is allowed.
6. A standard keyboard will be provided at the event.
7. The "Judging Criteria" will be the guide to determine the points
scored.
SPEECH:
1. Total time Limit - 5 min. (Warning flag at 4min 30sec.) Points
will be reduced for each 15 seconds
based on a 10 point system.
2. For Levels 4, 5, 6, and 7, one subject will be given 3 hours
before the competition.
3. For Level 3, three subjects are given in advance (below) and
one subject will be drawn 10 min. prior
to the competition. Level 3 Speech Topics include:
1. Reflect Christ in your words
2. Reflect Christ in your conduct
3. A model to the believers by being an example
4. The "Judging Criteria" will be the guide to determine the
points scored.
5. Bible college graduates and ministers are not allowed to participate.
MEMORY VERSE:
LEVEL 1 AND 2:
1. Oral competition. (Non-elimination method, with one contestant
per judge.). A written list of verses
the participant has learned and will recite must be submitted to
the judge.
2. No references required or allowed. Judging will be based on the
maximum number of verses orated.
3. Must be a complete verse in one language only with no partial
credits.
4. No repetition of similar verses, not even from other books in
the Bible.
5. A maximum of only 15 sec. pause permitted between verses,
otherwise the contestant is stopped.
LEVEL 3 TO 7:
1. Written in a total time limit of 45 min.
2. The list of verses will be given in advance.*
3. All contestants must only write verses from the list of the
pre-given verses.
4. Must be written in a legible manner using Malayalam or English.
Only one language can be used.
5. Each verse must be complete and must have a full reference. If
the verses are uninterrupted
continuation from the same chapter only the verse numbers are
required.

ESSAY WRITING:
1. Total time limit - 30 min.
2. For Levels 4, 5, 6, and 7, one subject will be given 3 hours
before the competition.
3. For Level 3, three subjects are given in advance(below) and one
subject will be drawn 10 min. prior
to the competition time. Level 3 Essay Topics
include: 1. Reflecting Christ in Love
2. Let no man despise thy youth
3. A model to the believers in purity
4. Bibles or notes are not
allowed.
5. The "Judging Criteria" will be the guide to determine the
points scored.
GROUP SONG(General):
1. Total time limit - 5 min. (Warning flag after 4 min. 50 sec.)
2. There will be two categories – English & Hindi/Malayalam. The
categories will be judged
separately.
3. Only one group per church. Maximum number of participants not
to exceeds 15.
4. Please make arrangements with the sound engineer ahead of time.
5. Each group is responsible for their own equipment set up and
dismantling on the stage.
6. Set up time is limited to 5 minutes.
7. No pre-recorded music of any kind will be permitted. This
prohibition includes music recorded on
keyboard memory. All must be live.
GROUP SONG(Juniors):
1. All participants must be of the ages 12 and under.
2. Total time limit - 3 min. (Warning flag after 2 min. 50 sec.)
3. Only one group per church. Maximum number of participants not
to exceed 10.
4. This event will be without instruments. No exceptions.
5. Set up time is limited to 5 minutes.
6. The team may sing any Christian song of their choice.
BIBLE QUIZ:
1. Total writing time limit is 30 min.
2. The questions shall be from the following books:
